What is the Soyboy vs. Yes Chad meme?
Soyboy vs. Yes Chad sets two crude internet doodles face to face. On the left is a bald, bespectacled Soyjak sobbing with his mouth wide open and tears streaming down his face. On the right is the calm Nordic Chad, a blond, bearded man drawn in side profile with neat hair and a black shirt, wholly unbothered. The format stages an argument: the soyboy shrieks an accusation, and the Chad simply agrees with "Yes." Owning the supposedly embarrassing thing without any shame is the whole punchline, so the meme is used to brag about guilty pleasures, controversial habits and unpopular choices.
Origin: The blond Chad drawing, also called Nordic Gamer, comes from the Nordic vs. Mediterranean comics on 4chan and took off as "Yes Chad" on Twitter in August 2019. Pairing him with a crying Soyjak made the two-character comeback layout.
Also known as: Yes Chad, Nordic Gamer, Soyjak vs Chad, Crying Soyjak vs Yes Chad, Chad Yes.
How to use the Soyboy vs. Yes Chad meme
The left box sits under the crying Soyjak and holds the outraged question or accusation, usually ending in "?!": "you still use Internet Explorer?!" The right box under the Chad is almost always just "Yes", and that one-word answer is what makes it funny.
Pick something you are slightly embarrassed by but secretly proud of: pineapple on pizza, playing on easy mode, replying-all, eating cereal for dinner. The bigger the soyboy's meltdown and the more mundane the habit, the better the contrast. You can swap "Yes" for a short confident reply, but keep it calm and brief.
