What is the How Do You Do, Fellow Kids? meme?
How Do You Do, Fellow Kids? shows Steve Buscemi in a high school hallway, wearing a backward red cap, a red hoodie over a gray "MUSIC BAND" t-shirt and carrying a skateboard over his shoulder. He is very clearly a middle-aged man pretending to be a teenager, and his strained half-smile makes it obvious the disguise is not working. The meme calls out anyone trying too hard to blend in with a group they do not belong to, especially brands, politicians and adults copying youth slang or memes to look relatable.
Origin: The scene is from "The Tuxedo Begins", a 2012 episode of 30 Rock in which Buscemi's private investigator character Lenny Wosniak goes undercover at a high school and greets students with the title line.
Also known as: Fellow Kids, Steve Buscemi Fellow Kids.
How to use the How Do You Do, Fellow Kids? meme
The classic layout splits the line across both boxes: "how do you do" on top and "fellow ___" on the bottom, with the blank naming the group being infiltrated ("fellow junior devs", "fellow gamers"). You can also use the top for who is pretending and the bottom for their unconvincing greeting.
It works best when the infiltrator is obvious: a bank posting memes, a teacher saying "no cap", a manager at the team's happy hour, a politician at a gaming stream. The cheesier the group label, the funnier.
