What is the Stop It, Get Some Help meme?
The Stop It, Get Some Help meme uses a still of a young Michael Jordan in a tan suit and red tie, looking directly at the viewer with a calm, serious expression. In the original clip he delivers a two-sentence lecture to the camera: stop it, and get some help. As a meme it is the response to anything cringeworthy, unhinged or out of control, as though the most famous athlete in the world had paused his schedule to personally stage an intervention.
Origin: The footage is from an anti-drug public service announcement starring Jordan, which aired on ABC in May 1987. Its stiff delivery made it a popular reaction clip on Vine and YouTube in the 2010s.
Also known as: Michael Jordan Stop It, Get Some Help, MJ PSA.
How to use the Stop It, Get Some Help meme
Top box: "stop it". Bottom box: "get some help". Most of the time the text stays exactly as said in the PSA, and the image is posted as a reply. To make a standalone meme, swap the top line for the behavior being called out and keep "get some help" as the punchline.
Good targets are cursed food combinations, people pinging at 3am, overly long commit messages, someone's fifth preorder. Jordan's deadpan face means you don't have to explain why the behavior is bad; the intervention tone does that.
