What is the 20 Minute Adventure meme?
20 Minute Adventure is a two-panel Rick and Morty meme. In the top panel Rick, in his lab coat, gestures toward a swirling green portal in a school hallway and casually promises Morty a quick in-and-out trip, with the subtitle "Let's go. In and out. 20 minute adventure." In the bottom panel the two are slumped in the ship, Morty sobbing and Rick buried in his hands, plainly wrecked by whatever happened. The contrast is the gag: the breezy promise of something fast and easy, then the ragged reality much later. It is used for errands, "quick" tasks, short games and one-more-episode decisions that spiral out of control.
Origin: The scene opens the Rick and Morty episode "Rest and Ricklaxation" (season 3, 2017), where a supposedly twenty-minute adventure stretches on for days.
Also known as: 20 Minutes Adventure, In and Out 20 Minute Adventure, Rick and Morty 20 Minute Adventure.
How to use the 20 Minute Adventure meme
The top box goes over the portal panel and names the innocent plan: "just one more episode", "quick grocery run", "one ranked match". The bottom box goes over the broken pair in the ship and gives the outcome, usually a time stamp or consequence ("4 am", "3 weeks later", "$400 later").
The bigger the gap between the casual plan and the wreckage, the funnier it is. Time jumps are the classic punchline, but cost, emotional damage and new problems all work.
