What Is My Purpose? is a three-panel scene from Rick and Morty: a small boxy robot with a camera-lens eye, two thin arms and tank treads stands on the breakfast table, Rick answers it with his mouth full while Summer looks on, and the robot looks down at itself. Rick builds it to pass him butter at breakfast. When the robot asks why it exists and learns the answer is "you pass butter," it looks down in existential dismay and says "Oh my god." The meme captures the sudden horror of realizing your job, product or role is much smaller than you hoped. Captions replay the exchange with someone asking about their purpose and getting a deflating, oddly specific answer.
Origin: The robot appears in the Rick and Morty Season 1 episode "Something Ricked This Way Comes" (2014). Its exchange with Rick became a widely quoted bit about existential disappointment.
