What is the Bernie: I Am Once Again Asking meme?
Bernie: I Am Once Again Asking shows Senator Bernie Sanders standing outdoors on a gray winter day, bundled in a brown hooded parka, glasses on, speaking straight into the camera with weary earnestness. The subtitle "I am once again asking" is already printed across the bottom, and the emphasis on "once again" is the joke: he has asked before, he will ask again, and he is a little tired of having to. Captions finish the request with anything people keep begging for, from homework to a friend's attention.
Origin: The clip is from a fundraising video Sanders posted at the end of December 2019 during his campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. In January 2020 people began replacing "for your financial support" with other requests.
Also known as: I Am Once Again Asking, I Am Once Again Asking for Your Financial Support, Bernie Sanders Asking.
How to use the Bernie: I Am Once Again Asking meme
There is one box, used to complete the sentence after the built-in "I am once again asking". Write it as "for your..." or "you to..." so it flows from the subtitle.
It suits repeated, slightly desperate requests: a teammate's overdue review, a roommate's dishes, a friend's borrowed charger, a studio to make a sequel, a reply from someone who leaves you on read. The more often the request has really been made, the better.
