What is the Ah Shit, Here We Go Again meme?
Ah Shit, Here We Go Again shows Carl "CJ" Johnson from his back, in a white tank top, walking down a sunlit, sandy alley between brick walls in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, with his tired line printed across the bottom as a subtitle. He has just come home after years away and is already being dragged back into trouble. The meme uses that weary, resigned sigh for any situation you know far too well because it keeps happening: the same bug reappearing, the same argument at family dinner, the same Monday every week.
Origin: The line is from the opening of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, released by Rockstar Games in 2004, when CJ returns to Los Santos and is immediately caught up in gang trouble. The screenshot took off as an exploitable in 2019.
Also known as: Here We Go Again, CJ Here We Go Again, GTA San Andreas Intro.
How to use the Ah Shit, Here We Go Again meme
There is a single box at the top of the image. Write the recurring situation there, and let CJ's subtitle at the bottom finish the joke. Since the subtitle is already part of the picture, the caption only needs to set up the repeat.
It suits anything cyclical and slightly dreaded: a new semester, tax season, the annual console war, a sequel to a game that was already exhausting. Phrases like "every year", "again" or a date make the loop obvious and sharpen the punchline.
