What is the Did You Say Potential? meme?
Did You Say Potential? shows Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen with a wide, unhinged grin, fingers dragging at his cheeks as if the word itself just flipped a switch in his head. The joke is that Megumi has spent years being called the character with the most untapped potential, so the image works as his overexcited reaction any time someone says the word. Outside the anime fandom it has become a general way to roast anything that is permanently "about to be good": a rebuilding sports team, a half-finished side project, a friend who keeps promising to start the gym on Monday.
Origin: Jujutsu Kaisen fans have teased Megumi as "Potential Man" for years, since the series keeps hinting at his hidden strength without fully paying it off. Pairing his manic grin with the question "did you say potential?" turned that running fandom joke into a reaction image anyone can reuse.
Also known as: Potential Man Megumi, Megumi Potential, Did You Just Say Potential.
How to use the Did You Say Potential? meme
Put the setup in the top box: a quote, headline or message where someone praises potential instead of results. The bottom box is Megumi's reply, almost always some version of "did you say POTENTIAL?" in caps, so the contrast between the calm setup and his crazed face does the work.
It lands best when the potential has been promised for a long time. Recruiters, game trailers, early-access software, investors pitching a startup and anime power-scaling debates are all classic targets. Keep the top line short and quotable so it reads in one glance on a phone.
