What is the Liam Neeson Taken meme?
Liam Neeson Taken shows Neeson as retired spy Bryan Mills, phone pressed to his ear, brow furrowed and mouth half open as he speaks to the man who has kidnapped his daughter. It is the moment just before or during his famous speech about having "a very particular set of skills" and promising to track the kidnapper down. As a meme, the calm, deadly sincere threat gets aimed at something petty: whoever ate your leftovers, the coworker who scheduled a 4:59 pm meeting, the developer who left a regex with no comments. The comedy comes from treating a trivial grievance with the gravity of a parent hunting human traffickers.
Origin: The still and the monologue come from Taken, the 2008 action thriller directed by Pierre Morel and co-written by Luc Besson, starring Liam Neeson. The phone call speech became one of the most quoted movie lines of its era and launched a string of sequels and parodies.
Also known as: Taken Phone Call, I Will Find You And I Will Kill You, Particular Set of Skills, Liam Neeson Phone.
How to use the Liam Neeson Taken meme
The top box names the offender or what they did, usually starting with "I will find whoever..." or "I don't know who you are." The bottom box completes the threat with "and I will kill them" or a milder, funnier consequence. You can also borrow the "particular set of skills" line and fill in an absurdly specific skill.
The smaller the crime, the better the joke. Spoilers, stolen fries, a stranger who replied-all, someone who moved your desk chair. Keep both halves short so it reads like a line Neeson could actually growl into the phone.
