What is the Lisa Simpson's Presentation meme?
Lisa Simpson's Presentation shows Lisa standing on a stage with red curtains, a spotlight on her, beside a large blank projection screen. She holds note cards, wears a slightly nervous, earnest expression and looks at the audience, of which only the tops of a few heads are visible at the bottom of the frame. The empty screen is where your text goes, so the meme presents an opinion as if it were a serious academic finding, delivered with a straight face by the smartest kid in Springfield.
Origin: The frame is from The Simpsons episode "Bye Bye Nerdie" (season 12, 2001), in which Lisa presents her research on bullies and nerds at a scientific conference.
Also known as: Lisa Simpson Presentation, Lisa Simpson Projector, Lisa Simpson Speech.
How to use the Lisa Simpson's Presentation meme
There is one large box on the projection screen. Write a single statement phrased like a thesis, a fact or a slide title. The humor comes from presenting something petty, obvious or controversial with the formality of a lecture.
Hot takes work well: unpopular opinions about food, "facts" about coworkers, gaming debates, sports arguments, or a deliberately nerdy correction. Write it as a confident declarative sentence, no "I think", so Lisa sounds like she is presenting peer-reviewed research.
