What is the Minor Mistake Marvin meme?
Minor Mistake Marvin is a photo of a boy in a gray striped polo with a red sweatshirt tied around his waist, standing beside a school microwave whose door hangs open. Inside, a cup of instant noodles has been blasted into a scorched, collapsed mess. The kid stares off to the side with a flat, quietly stunned look, as if he is still processing how lunch went this wrong. Captions describe small, self-inflicted blunders from daily life written as a plain statement of what Marvin did.
Origin: The photo was posted to Reddit's r/pics in October 2014 under a title about a kid who just wanted noodles, and the burnt-ramen stare was quickly turned into an advice-animal character.
Also known as: Ramen Kid, Burnt Noodles Kid, He Just Wanted Some Noodles.
How to use the Minor Mistake Marvin meme
Write a short two-part confession of a petty mistake. The top line states what Marvin did, and the bottom line delivers the detail that reveals the error, often a single wrong word: "puts ice cream back" then "in the refrigerator". The kid's blank stare plays the aftermath.
Keep it low stakes and relatable: microwaving foil, hitting reply-all, saving over the wrong file, forgetting to unmute, pouring the milk before checking the cereal box. The smaller and more avoidable the error, the funnier the deadpan photo feels.
