What is the Missing Milk Carton meme?
Missing Milk Carton is a carton printed with a bold "MISSING" header, an empty white square where a photo would go, and "HAVE YOU SEEN ME?" underneath. It spoofs the missing-person notices that American dairies used to print on milk cartons, but instead of a person, the square holds whatever has quietly vanished from someone's life: motivation, a sock from the laundry, a cancelled show, a friend who left you on read or a promised game sequel that never arrived.
Origin: In the 1980s, US dairies printed photos of missing children on milk cartons, which made the carton layout instantly recognizable. A blank version of that design later became a parody template used for anything that seems to have disappeared.
Also known as: Have You Seen Me?, Milk Carton Missing Poster, Milk Carton.
How to use the Missing Milk Carton meme
The only text box sits inside the blank photo square. Name what is missing and, for a stronger joke, add when it was last seen, like a real notice: "my motivation, last seen monday morning".
It works best for things that fade away slowly or that everyone pretends not to notice: a sequel, a refund, a coworker who stopped attending standup, the gym habit from January. A mock-serious tone and a precise "last seen" detail make it land.
