What is the They're The Same Picture meme?
They're The Same Picture comes from a two-panel scene in The Office. In the top panel, two blank sheets of paper are held up beside the subtitle "Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture." In the bottom panel, Pam Beesly looks into the camera with a calm, faintly amused expression and answers "They're the same picture." The meme puts two things that claim to be different on the sheets and lets Pam deadpan that they are identical.
Origin: The scene is from "Search Committee", the season 7 finale of the US version of The Office, which aired in May 2011. Pam's flat delivery of the line to camera is what turned the two frames into a comparison template.
Also known as: Corporate Needs You to Find the Differences, Pam Same Picture, Find the Differences.
How to use the They're The Same Picture meme
The first box goes on the left sheet and the second on the right sheet: put the two things being compared, as words or symbols. The third box sits over Pam in the bottom panel and labels who is seeing through the difference, for example a group, a fandom or a person.
It works for rebrands, sequels, "new" products, rival phones, two slightly different versions of the same excuse, or mathematical approximations. The flatter Pam's verdict feels, the funnier, so the two items should look clearly identical once you think about it.
