What is the Y U NO Guy meme?

Y U NO Guy is a simple black-and-white drawing of a round-headed figure with both hands raised beside its face, eyes squeezed and mouth wide open in a full-on frustrated yell. The text-speak "Y U NO" (why you no) is the whole catchphrase: a demand, in broken shorthand grammar, that someone or something do what it obviously should. The crude grammar is the joke, making every complaint sound like an exasperated outburst typed on an old phone.

Origin: The face is traced from a panel in the Japanese manga Gantz. Paired with the "Y U NO" phrasing, it became one of the core rage-comic style image macros around 2010 and 2011.

Also known as: Y U NO, Why You No, Y U NO Meme.

How to use the Y U NO Guy meme

The top box usually starts with "Y U NO" or addresses the target ("printer"), and the bottom box finishes the demand in the same broken grammar ("Y U NO print?"). Write in all caps, drop small words, and keep it as one shouted question.

It suits everyday frustrations aimed at objects, people or companies: a game that won't load, a friend who won't reply, wifi that drops, a sequel that never comes. The more mundane the complaint and the more dramatic the face, the funnier it gets.
