What is the Goodfellas Laughing meme?
Goodfellas Laughing shows Ray Liotta as Henry Hill in a cream jacket, doubled over with his mouth wide open, while Joe Pesci's Tommy DeVito leans back behind him roaring with laughter, both crowded around a smoky bar table. Nobody is holding back; it is full-body, can't-breathe laughter. The meme uses it to react to a suggestion, promise or plan so ridiculous that the only possible answer is to laugh in its face. It reads as mockery more than joy, which makes it a natural fit for unrealistic deadlines, overconfident predictions and promises nobody believes.
Origin: The still is from Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas (1990), in the nightclub scene just before Tommy's famous "funny how?" exchange with Henry. It has been used as a laughter reaction image online since at least the 2010s.
Also known as: Two Laughing Men, Ray Liotta Laughing, Joe Pesci Laughing.
How to use the Goodfellas Laughing meme
Put the ridiculous statement in the top box, ideally as a quote, like "we'll document it later" or "this sprint will be easy". The bottom box is the reaction, usually just "hahaha" or a short line from the laughing duo.
It works best when the top line is something someone actually says with a straight face. You can also turn it around: put the people laughing in the top box ("my friends when I said I'd start running") and leave the bottom for the laugh.
