What is the Guy Hiding Behind Tree meme?
Guy Hiding Behind Tree shows comedian Anthony Adams in a bright yellow suit jacket leaning out from behind a thick tree trunk, rubbing his hands together with a sly, satisfied smirk. He is half hidden but clearly delighted, the posture of someone watching a plan unfold or waiting for the right moment to pounce. The meme captures sneaky anticipation: lurking near something you want, quietly enjoying chaos you are not part of, or watching from a distance to see how a risky situation plays out.
Origin: The photo is of Anthony Adams and comes from the same shoot that produced the well-known Anthony Adams Rubbing Hands reaction image. The behind-the-tree version became its own template around 2020.
Also known as: Anthony Adams Behind Tree, Yellow Jacket Behind Tree, Peeking From Behind Tree.
How to use the Guy Hiding Behind Tree meme
Use the top box for who is watching, often "me watching" or "me waiting for". The bottom box names what is being watched or targeted.
It works for two moods. One is opportunistic: waiting for the free food in the break room, a sale to start, the last slice of pizza. The other is gleeful spectating: watching a risky deploy, a rival team collapse, two friends about to find out they were dating the same person. The smirk tells the viewer you are enjoying it.
