What is the Here It Comes meme?

Here It Comes is a selfie of a sweaty, wild-eyed man screaming at the camera in the flat red Australian outback while a towering brown dust tornado churns behind him. He looks equal parts terrified and thrilled, the face of someone who has accepted that disaster is about to hit and wants a record of it. The meme uses that frozen moment for any inevitable, approaching catastrophe: Monday morning, the credit card bill, the boss's calendar invite, the plot twist you saw coming.

Origin: The frame is from a 2014 viral video of a man filming himself as a tornado approached in the outback. It was later revealed to be a staged marketing stunt for the film Into the Storm, produced by an Australian video company.

Also known as: Tornado Selfie, Here It Comes Tornado, Australian Tornado Guy.

How to use the Here It Comes meme

The top box names the incoming disaster. The bottom box is the reaction, usually "here it comes" or a scream.

It lands best with dread you can see coming from far away: Sunday night before a deadline, the first day after vacation, an exam you didn't study for, a patch that nerfs your main, a meeting that could have been an email. Making the top line very specific and the bottom line short and loud mirrors the screaming face.
