What is the Oh No, He's Hot! meme?
Oh No, He's Hot! is a two-row layout from SpongeBob SquarePants with empty white boxes on the left and two shots of Squidward on the right. In the top shot he stares ahead with a flat, unimpressed face. In the bottom shot his eyes widen and his mouth twists into a wobbly, panicked grimace. The second face is his reaction to discovering that someone he wanted to dislike is actually attractive, so the meme is about the dismay of finding something or someone appealing against your will.
Origin: The scene is from the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Squilliam Returns" (2002). To calm his nerves, Squidward tries the old advice of picturing everyone in their underwear, imagines his rival Squilliam and, horrified, blurts out "Oh no, he's hot!"
Also known as: Oh No He's Hot, Squidward Oh No He's Hot, Squidward Hot Meme.
How to use the Oh No, He's Hot! meme
The top-left box next to the neutral face is the setup, usually a person or thing you expect to be unremarkable or annoying. The bottom-left box next to the horrified face is either the literal line "oh no, he's hot" or the detail that changed your mind.
It works for crushes on villains, rivals and fictional characters, but also for non-romantic attraction: a competitor's clean codebase, a rival team's new signing, a dish you swore you'd hate. Phrase the top line as an observation, so the panicked reaction lands as the twist.
