What is the I Fear No Man meme?
I Fear No Man is a three-panel image of the Heavy from Team Fortress 2, the huge Russian gunner, sitting in a dim room with light from window blinds behind him. In the top panel he says "I fear no man." The bottom row has him saying "But that thing..." on one side and "it scares me." on the other, with an empty white square in the middle. That square is the template: you drop in whatever terrifies the bravest person in the room. The joke is the contrast between a fearless giant and the small, ridiculous thing that rattles him.
Origin: The lines come from Valve's "Meet the Pyro" video for Team Fortress 2, released in 2012, in which the other mercenaries admit they are scared of the Pyro. The Heavy's confession became an exploitable with an empty panel.
Also known as: I Fear No Man But That Thing, It Scares Me, Heavy I Fear No Man.
How to use the I Fear No Man meme
There is a single text box, in the blank square between "But that thing..." and "it scares me." Write the scary thing there, or paste in its name as a short label. Everything else is already in the image.
The best picks are small but universally dreaded: merge conflicts, a text that says "we need to talk", the dentist, a calendar invite titled "quick chat", the check engine light. A few words reads best in the square.
