What is the Anime Girl Hiding from Terminator meme?
A teary-eyed anime girl with a red flower clip in her hair huddles under an office desk, hugging her knees, while a T-800 endoskeleton from The Terminator stalks through the office behind her carrying a huge gun. The joke is pure dread: someone desperately hiding from a relentless threat that is clearly going to find them anyway. Labeled versions name the girl as the person hiding and the robot as whatever is hunting them, from a forgotten assignment to a family member asking about grades.
Origin: The girl is Nono Morikubo from The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, a famously timid character. The artwork was a 2019 fan illustration posted on Twitter, and it took off as an object-labeling format in early 2020 after a popular Reddit post.
Also known as: Anime Girl Hiding From a Terminator, Nono Hiding From Terminator, Girl Hiding Under Desk Terminator.
How to use the Anime Girl Hiding from Terminator meme
There are two boxes across the top. The left one labels the frightened girl under the desk, usually "me" or a group of people trying to avoid something. The right one labels the Terminator, the inescapable threat. Short noun phrases read best because both labels sit side by side.
Good threats are things that will catch up with you sooner or later: due dates, the dentist, a phone call from an unknown number, a boss collecting overdue reports, the boss music in a game. The closer and more inevitable the threat feels, the better it matches the girl's tears.
