What is the I'm Something of a Scientist Myself meme?
I'm Something of a Scientist Myself shows Willem Dafoe as Norman Osborn, smiling warmly with a tilted head and a little shrug, the look of a man claiming a kinship he is sure you will appreciate. In the film, the wealthy industrialist offers the line as a friendly bond with a science student. As a meme it becomes the punchline of a fake credential: someone does something barely technical, or just guesses, and then calmly announces they too are a scientist. The humor is the contrast between a trivial accomplishment and the confident, self-satisfied delivery.
Origin: The line comes from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002), said by Norman Osborn to Peter Parker. It has been a widely used image macro since the late 2010s.
Also known as: Something of a Scientist Myself, Norman Osborn Scientist, Willem Dafoe Scientist.
How to use the I'm Something of a Scientist Myself meme
Top box: the weak "experiment" or achievement, written plainly. Bottom box: "I'm something of a scientist myself" or a version swapped for another profession.
The sillier the experiment, the better: mixing every soda flavor, microwaving something to see what happens, copying a fix from a forum, taking a pill with energy drink, guessing a test answer. You can also swap the profession ("I'm something of a chef myself") when the scene fits a different field.
