What is the Leo Strutting meme?
Leo Strutting is a candid photo of Leonardo DiCaprio walking down a cobbled street in an olive jacket, blue shirt and dark trousers, grinning widely with one fist raised in front of his chest like he is mid-swagger, while crew members in shorts and sneakers stand around him. He looks thrilled with himself for no visible reason. That carefree, oblivious joy is the joke: it fits anyone strolling happily through a situation they clearly do not understand, or celebrating something tiny. It is also a popular cutout for photoshops, dropping a cheerful Leo into the middle of chaos.
Origin: The photo was taken on a set of Christopher Nolan's Inception, which was released in 2010. It became a photoshop and image-macro favorite soon afterward.
Also known as: Strutting Leo, Leonardo DiCaprio Walking, Happy Leo, Leo Walking.
How to use the Leo Strutting meme
The top box sets up the situation Leo is breezing into, and the bottom box gives the twist that shows he has no idea what is happening or is celebrating too early, like "I have no idea / what I am doing".
It is funniest for clueless confidence: walking into a class you have not studied for, starting a new job, showing up to the party on the wrong day. Keep it lighthearted; Leo is happy, not smug.
