What is the Limmy Waking Up meme?
Limmy Waking Up is a close-up of Scottish comedian Brian Limond, known as Limmy, lying shirtless in bed with his face mashed into a white pillow, hair sticking up, one eye squinting and his mouth twisted into a groggy, pained grimace. He looks like he has just been woken far too early or after far too little sleep, which is how the photo is used: the face of every rough morning, confused nap and alarm that went off at the wrong time.
Origin: Limmy posted the photo on Twitter in September 2014, and it has been captioned as an image macro ever since.
Also known as: Limmy, Brian Limond Waking Up, Limmy Bed.
How to use the Limmy Waking Up meme
Top box: the situation you are waking up into. Bottom box: the groggy thought or the bad news.
It fits naps that went too long, alarms on a day off, waking up to forty messages, or the moment you remember what you said last night. The best captions are something half-asleep you would actually mumble.
