What is the I Like It in Here meme?
I Like It in Here shows Chiwetel Ejiofor in a dim, amber-lit room, eyes wet with tears and a fragile half smile, as yellow subtitles read "I like it in here. I feel like I'm right where I'm supposed to be." The shot is unnerving because his calm acceptance comes from a place that is obviously wrong for him. The meme borrows that feeling for any comfort trap people sink into happily: endless scrolling, a cozy blanket at noon, a niche hobby rabbit hole, a toxic group chat. It says "I know I should leave" and "I will never leave" at the same time.
Origin: The still is from Backrooms (2026), A24's feature film based on Kane Parsons's web series, with Ejiofor as a man who wanders into the endless yellow rooms. The line spread on short-video platforms around the film's release.
Also known as: Right Where I'm Supposed to Be, Backrooms I Like It in Here, Chiwetel Ejiofor Backrooms.
How to use the I Like It in Here meme
There is one text box, at the top of the image. Describe where "in here" is: a place, habit or state you are clearly too deep into. The subtitle already gives the punchline, so the caption is just the setup.
It works best when the situation is a little unhealthy but extremely relatable: 40 tabs into a Wikipedia hole, hour three of a video essay, a game you swore you would quit, bed at 2pm on Sunday. Specific details (times, numbers) make it sharper.
