What is the Live Reaction meme?

Live Reaction is a mock news graphic: a bold red banner with "LIVE" on the left and "REACTION" on the right, an empty red gap between them where a name would sit, above a large black screen. It parodies the picture-in-picture shots news channels use to show a host or pundit reacting in real time. Here the black screen is the canvas, so you describe the reaction instead of showing it, which makes it a flexible way to report anyone's live response to an event.

Origin: The format comes from "Live Tucker Reaction", a Fox News on-screen reaction camera of Tucker Carlson during a March 2021 speech by Joe Biden. Meme makers later swapped Carlson's face and name for whatever they wanted to show reacting.

Also known as: Live Tucker Reaction, Live X Reaction, Live Reaction Meme.

How to use the Live Reaction meme

There is one large box covering the black screen. Describe the person or thing reacting and the event, written like a caption on a broadcast: "me watching the demo break", "my cat hearing the can opener".

The news-banner styling makes trivial events feel like breaking coverage, so the funniest captions are tiny personal moments treated as live television: a team losing, a laptop fan spinning up, a parent seeing a phone bill. Keep it to one line so it reads like a chyron.
