What is the No, This Is Patrick meme?
No, This Is Patrick shows Patrick Star standing behind the Krusty Krab order counter in a sailor-style cap, clutching a phone receiver and screaming into it with his mouth wide open. In the scene a customer keeps calling to ask whether this is the Krusty Krab, and Patrick, completely missing the point, insists that no, this is Patrick, getting louder each time. The meme borrows that misunderstanding: someone asks a reasonable question about a role or place, and the answer is a confident, wrong and very literal correction. It is a classic for answering the phone at work, on-call rotations and any situation where you are clearly the wrong person to ask.
Origin: The exchange is from a second-season SpongeBob SquarePants episode that first aired around 2000. The line became a long-running remix and YouTube Poop favorite before settling in as an image macro.
Also known as: Is This the Krusty Krab, No This Is Patrick, Patrick Phone Meme.
How to use the No, This Is Patrick meme
Top box is the question, usually phrased like the original call ("is this the ___?"). Bottom box is the answer, "no, this is patrick", or a variant where someone responds with their own name or identity instead of the job title they were asked about.
It suits support desks, on-call shifts, customer service, group projects and anyone pretending not to be responsible for something. Keep the question polite and normal; the dumb, shouted answer is the punchline.
