What is the Oh, Is That What We're Going to Do Today? meme?
This template shows Red Forman, the stern, balding dad from That '70s Show, sitting at the kitchen table in a maroon shirt and gesturing toward someone with an open palm. His expression is the calm, unimpressed look of a man who has just been mildly provoked and is not worried at all. The line attached, "oh, is that what we're going to do today? we're going to fight?", is his dry way of daring someone to take it further.
Origin: Red Forman was played by Kurtwood Smith on That '70s Show, which ran on Fox from 1998 to 2006. The character is known for gruff threats and deadpan sarcasm aimed at his son Eric and the other kids.
Also known as: We're Going to Fight?, Red Forman, That 70s Show Red.
How to use the Oh, Is That What We're Going to Do Today? meme
The top box is the challenge or provocation: something that just happened to you, often an object or situation acting up. The bottom box is Red's response, either the full line or a twist on "we're going to fight?". His relaxed posture makes even trivial fights sound like he'll win.
Use it for a printer jamming again, a stubborn jar, a boss that one-shots you, a parking ticket, or a toddler testing bedtime. It's funniest when you square up against something that can't possibly fight back.
