What is the Shut Up and Take My Money! meme?
Shut Up and Take My Money shows Fry from Futurama with a wild-eyed, eager grin, thrusting a fistful of cash toward the viewer. He is so sold on a product that he cuts off the sales pitch before it finishes. The meme is the internet's standard way to say "I want this immediately, no questions asked" about gadgets, game announcements, merchandise, sequels and absurd product ideas. It also gets used ironically for things nobody needs, which makes Fry look even more impulsive.
Origin: The line comes from the Futurama episode "Attack of the Killer App" (2010), in which Fry is desperate to buy the new eyePhone. A frame of him waving his money became a reaction image soon after.
Also known as: Shut Up and Take My Money, Fry Take My Money, Futurama Fry Money.
How to use the Shut Up and Take My Money! meme
Most versions keep the quote split across both boxes: "shut up and" on top, "take my money!" on the bottom. To customize it, describe the irresistible product or announcement in the top box and keep the bottom box as "shut up and take my money".
It works best when the thing being sold is hyper-specific to a crowd: a remake of a beloved game, a keyboard with one extra key, a mug that keeps coffee warm forever. Ridiculous inventions are especially fun, because Fry's eagerness makes the product sound even sillier.
