What is the The Rock Driving meme?
The Rock Driving is a four-panel comic built from Race to Witch Mountain (2009): Dwayne Johnson behind the wheel asks a casual question, the passenger cheerfully answers, Johnson snaps his head around with a horrified double-take, and the passenger's face drops in shock. This version swaps the passenger for a delighted baby who turns wide-eyed in the last panel. The joke is a casual chat that takes a sudden dark or alarming turn, with the Rock's look of disbelief landing as the reaction to whatever confession just slipped out.
Origin: The original three-panel layout appeared on Newgrounds forums in 2009, using frames of Johnson's cab-driver character from Race to Witch Mountain. Edits with a baby in the passenger seat and added fourth panels followed.
Also known as: The Rock Driving Meme, Rock Driving Baby, Dwayne Johnson Car Meme.
How to use the The Rock Driving meme
Box 1 is the Rock's innocent question. Box 2 is the passenger's happy reply, which should sound fine at first. Box 3 is the Rock's follow-up or startled reaction ("wait, what?"). Box 4 is the passenger's final reveal or a horrified "...".
The fun comes from the escalation between boxes 2 and 4: the answer seems harmless, and then the follow-up exposes how bad things really are. It fits developer horror stories, school deadlines, budgets and plans nobody thought through.
