What is the Would (Literally Wood) meme?
Would (Literally Wood) is a plain photo of a huge pile of cut logs stacked beside a dirt road, with bare winter trees behind. On its own it is just timber; captioned "would" it becomes a pun on the "would" reaction images, where people post a picture with that single word to say they would happily go for something, whether a good-looking person, a burger or a new gaming PC. Answering with literal wood is the joke: a dad-joke version of the reaction that is goofier and a lot more family friendly than the original.
Origin: "Would" reaction images took off online in late 2022, and wood-based puns using logs, lumber and planks followed. This photo is by Jared from Harrisburg, PA, shared under CC BY-SA 2.0 via Wikimedia Commons.
Also known as: Would, Wood, Would Reaction Image, 10/10 Wood.
How to use the Would (Literally Wood) meme
The classic version leaves the top box empty and puts "would" at the bottom, posted as a reply to something tempting. You can also use the top box to name the thing being rated, then answer "would" below.
It works best for food, gadgets, cozy cabins, a fresh pizza or anything you would gladly say yes to. Keep it light: the punchline is the pun on lumber, not the thing being rated. Variants like "10/10 wood" or "wood again" stretch the joke.
