What is the The Worst Day Of Your Life So Far meme?
This Homer and Bart template is a two-panel scene from The Simpsons Movie on a pink, sunset-lit sidewalk. In the top panel Bart, slumped and shaken, says this is the worst day of his life. In the bottom panel Homer crouches down, lifts Bart's chin with one finger and, with a cheerful grin, corrects him: it's the worst day of his life so far. The joke is cheerful pessimism, a comforting gesture that delivers the bleak promise that things will get worse, and it fits any situation where the bad news is only the start.
Origin: It is taken from The Simpsons Movie (2007), after Bart is publicly humiliated and Homer tries, badly, to console him.
Also known as: Worst Day of Your Life So Far, Homer and Bart Worst Day, Simpsons Worst Day Meme.
How to use the The Worst Day Of Your Life So Far meme
The first box is Bart's complaint, either "this is the worst day of my life" or a specific bad moment. The second box is Homer's reply, typically Homer's original correction, which repeats Bart's line and tacks on "so far", or a reply that hints at what is coming next.
It works best with a clear rookie-to-veteran gap: a first-year student versus a senior, a new hire versus an old one, a first bug versus a whole career, a teen getting their first bill. Homer's cheerfulness should make the dark future sound almost friendly.
