What is the 10 Guy meme?
[10] Guy is a close-up of a young man slumped on a couch with heavy, half-closed eyes, flushed cheeks and a slow, satisfied smile, a crinkled snack bag in the corner of the frame. Everything about the face reads as very, very high, and the captions narrate the logic of someone in that state: solving problems that do not exist, getting confused by ordinary objects, or reaching profound conclusions about cereal. The name treats his state as a score, as in a ten out of ten. The joke is always the gap between how deep the thought feels to him and how pointless it looks to everyone else.
Origin: The photo spread on Reddit as one of the advice animal image macros of the early 2010s, where it picked up nicknames like Really High Guy and Stoner Stanley.
Also known as: [10] Guy, Really High Guy, Stoner Stanley.
How to use the 10 Guy meme
Use the classic advice animal layout. The top box sets up an everyday situation in the third person (“goes to the kitchen for a snack”), and the bottom box delivers the spaced-out conclusion or misfire (“forgets why, makes a sandwich anyway”).
The best captions follow a broken but internally consistent train of thought, like turning down the radio to see better. Keep it about harmless confusion, forgetfulness and snack logic. Short lines suit his sleepy face; a long sentence ruins the pacing.
