What is the Bongo Cat meme?
This Bongo Cat template is an animated two-panel comparison built from the simple white cartoon cat with a blank ":3" face. In the top panel the cat has huge, muscular arms and is pounding the table so hard it cracks; in the bottom panel the ordinary little cat taps its paws gently with tiny red motion marks. The text sits on the white space to the left of each panel. It is a strength comparison: the top line is something that hits way too hard, the bottom line is something that barely registers, usually when the opposite should be true.
Origin: Bongo Cat began in 2018 when an animated GIF of the cartoon cat slapping a table was edited to play bongos along to music. Remixes followed with other instruments and a buff, table-smashing version, which this template pairs with the original.
Also known as: Buff Bongo Cat, Muscle Bongo Cat.
How to use the Bongo Cat meme
Write the overpowered thing in the top box next to the buff cat and the feeble thing in the bottom box next to the small cat. Phrase them as parallel labels so the comparison is immediate.
It is funniest when the strength is backwards: a tiny noise that ruins your sleep versus an alarm you sleep through, one mean comment versus a hundred compliments, a minor patch that breaks everything versus a major update that changes nothing. Because it is a GIF, keep the lines short so they read before the loop repeats.
