What is the Insane Peter meme?
Insane Peter is a Family Guy GIF of Peter Griffin in a white straitjacket, sitting on the floor of a beige padded cell with his legs out in front of him and his mouth open as if yelling or babbling at the wall. It is a picture of someone completely losing it, used for the moment a situation finally drives you over the edge, or for a mind that has quietly snapped after too much of something.
Origin: The image is often linked to a Family Guy fan theory first posted to Reddit in 2012, claiming that Peter has gone insane and the whole series happens in his head. The theory went viral on TikTok in late 2022.
Also known as: Peter Griffin Straitjacket, Peter Going Insane, Insane Peter Griffin.
How to use the Insane Peter meme
Top box: what pushed you over the edge. Bottom box: optional, for a second line about your current state, or leave it empty.
Use it for the result of something exhausting: a fifth group project, a 200-comment code review, a week of customer service, watching your team blow a lead again. The more ordinary the cause, the funnier the straitjacket.
