What is the The Most Interesting Man in the World meme?
This template is the bearded, silver-haired spokesman from the Dos Equis beer commercials, sitting at a table in a black pinstripe velvet jacket and open white shirt, one arm folded across the other, a green bottle of Dos Equis beside him and a slightly amused, self-assured look on his face. In the ads he was a legendary adventurer whose life was too exciting to describe, and he ended with a line about rarely drinking beer but preferring Dos Equis when he did. The meme rewrites that line into "I don't always X, but when I do, I Y," using his cool authority to deliver a silly or embarrassing habit.
Origin: The character was played by Jonathan Goldsmith in Dos Equis advertising that started in 2006 and ran for about a decade before a new actor took over. His sign-off was "Stay thirsty, my friends."
Also known as: I Don't Always, Dos Equis Guy, Stay Thirsty My Friends.
How to use the The Most Interesting Man in the World meme
Write "I don't always..." plus a habit in the top box, and "but when I do..." plus the twist in the bottom box. The second half should reveal something specific, foolish or unexpectedly honest, delivered as if it were sophisticated advice.
Coding, cooking, sports and online habits are rich ground: "I don't always test my code, but when I do, I do it in production" is the classic developer version. Keep the parallel structure intact, because the familiar rhythm sets up the punchline.
