What is the Jony Ive Redesigns Things meme?
Jony Ive Redesigns Things shows Apple's longtime design chief Jony Ive cut out against a clean white background, in a plain grey v-neck, mid-sentence with his hands raised and open as if gently explaining why something is beautiful. The setup mimics the soft-spoken, earnest narration of Apple's product videos. The meme uses that tone to praise absurd "improvements": removing a useful feature, making something thinner until it breaks, or charging more for less, all described as a bold step forward. The final beat is usually Apple-style marketing language like "we think you'll love it".
Origin: Ive led design at Apple for years and narrated many of its product introduction videos, filmed against bright white backgrounds. The meme parodies those videos and their reverent tone toward minimalism.
Also known as: Jony Ive Apple Design, We Think You'll Love It, Jony Ive Meme.
How to use the Jony Ive Redesigns Things meme
The top box is the absurd redesign, phrased like a feature announcement: "we removed the door handles", "the chair is now 30% thinner". The bottom box is the soft marketing payoff, usually "we think you'll love it" or a line about courage and simplicity.
It works best when the change is clearly worse but described with total sincerity. Tech products, software updates, school rules and app redesigns are perfect targets.
