What is the Insanity Wolf meme?

Insanity Wolf is a snarling black wolf's head with blood-red eyes and bared fangs, set on a high-contrast background of black and grey static triangles. Everything about it says unhinged. The meme gives advice in the most extreme way possible, taking an ordinary situation and answering it with the most deranged, over-the-top reaction imaginable. Classic Insanity Wolf captions were often violent shock humor, but the format works just as well with harmless chaos: testing in production, eating cereal with orange juice, replying-all to the entire company. The fun is the escalation from mundane to absurd.

Origin: Insanity Wolf grew out of the advice-animal macros on 4chan in the late 2000s as a deranged spin-off of Courage Wolf, the motivational wolf whose captions push you to be brave.

Also known as: Crazy Wolf, Insane Wolf.

How to use the Insanity Wolf meme

The top box is the normal setup, usually a short imperative or situation, like "does testing" or "someone says hello". The bottom box is the insane twist: "in production", "replies with a 40-minute voice note".

Write in clipped, all-caps advice-animal style and push the second line to an absurd extreme. Keep it chaotic rather than cruel; the best modern versions are harmlessly unhinged.
