What is the Probably Not a Good Idea meme?
Probably Not a Good Idea shows Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) in Jurassic World (2015), sitting in a dim room with a skeptical, tight-lipped look while Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) stands by a window in the background. In the film he has just been told that the park engineered a brand-new hybrid dinosaur to attract visitors, and the raptor trainer quietly delivers his verdict: that was probably not a good idea. The meme reuses his understated disapproval for any plan that is obviously going to blow up in someone's face.
Origin: The scene is from Jurassic World (2015). It became especially quotable because the film's plot then proves Owen right as the hybrid Indominus rex escapes.
Also known as: Jurassic World Owen, Chris Pratt Jurassic World, Owen Grady Bad Idea.
How to use the Probably Not a Good Idea meme
The top box describes the plan, usually phrased as a question or recap: "you just went and made a new dinosaur?" The bottom box is Owen's dry response, "probably not a good idea", or a variation that keeps the same deadpan tone.
The humor is the understatement. The worse the plan, the funnier it is that his reaction stays calm. Good targets are pushing to production on Friday, reheating fish in the office microwave, texting an ex at 2 am, or a sports team trading its best player mid-season.
