What is the Wolverine Remember meme?

In the top panel Wolverine lies in bed in his familiar yellow and blue suit, quietly staring at a picture frame in his hands. The bottom panel shows the frame from his point of view, held in his blue gloved hands, with the photo left blank so you can put anything inside. His wistful, lovesick gaze makes it the meme for longing and nostalgia: missing something you can't get back, from a childhood snack that was discontinued to the days when your code compiled.

Origin: The scene is from X-Men: The Animated Series (1993), where Wolverine gazes at a photo of Jean Grey, who is with Cyclops. It became a two-panel exploitable with the photo replaced.

Also known as: Wolverine Crush, Wolverine Staring at Picture, Sad Wolverine.

How to use the Wolverine Remember meme

The first box spans the top panel and sets up the nostalgia, often "remembering" or "me looking back at". The second box sits inside the picture frame and names the lost thing Wolverine is pining over. You can also paste an image into the frame instead of text.

It works for things that are gone forever or out of reach: old game consoles, cheap rent, summer break, an unbanned build in a game, a favourite snack flavour, the version of the app before the redesign, or your weekend on a Monday morning.
