What is the Cheems meme?
A Shiba Inu sits on a plain white background, body slightly hunched and head turned to the side, with a mild, sheepish, slightly uncomfortable expression. This dog is Cheems, the ironic cousin of the original Doge. In memes Cheems usually speaks in a broken style that adds extra m sounds to words, as in "cheemsburger", and he plays the meek, unlucky everyman. Captions put him in situations that are a little sad, awkward or doomed, often with a tone of cheerful denial that things will be fine.
Origin: The dog's real name was Balltze, a Shiba Inu from Hong Kong whose owner posted photos on Instagram from 2017. Images of him became a fixture of the /r/dogelore subreddit, where the Cheems name and speaking style took off. Balltze died in 2023.

How to use the Cheems meme
The top box sets up the situation and the bottom box completes it, often with Cheems' false optimism or a tiny defeat. Classic Cheems captions add an extra m to a word or two ("I amm fimne", "cheemsburger"), which immediately signals the character.
It works for small personal disasters: going to bed at 4am, promising yourself one more game, a diet that ends at the first snack, or an assignment you will "definitely" start tomorrow. Keep both lines short and low-key; Cheems is never dramatic.
