What is the Me and the Boys meme?
Me and the Boys uses a still from the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon showing four villains, Rhino, Vulture, Electro and the Green Goblin, crammed into one frame and grinning straight at the camera like friends posing for a group photo. The caption above them always starts with "me and the boys" and then names some oddly specific late-night mission. The humor comes from those smug, conspiratorial faces paired with a plan that is either completely harmless or wonderfully absurd, like hunting for beans at 3 am.
Origin: "Me and the boys" was a sincere caption for group photos long before it became a joke. In 2019 ironic versions with nonsense follow-ups spread through Reddit and Instagram, and the version with the 1967 Spider-Man villains broke into the mainstream around late May 2019.
Also known as: Me and the Boys at 3am, Spider-Man Villains Me and the Boys, Me and My Boys.
How to use the Me and the Boys meme
There is a single caption box above the image. Start with "me and the boys" (or "me and the boys at [time]") and finish with the scheme. The best captions are specific and a little ridiculous: an exact hour, a weird target, a petty goal.
Gaming squads, friend groups, coworkers on lunch break and students before an exam all fit. The villains' grins do the rest, so there is no need for a second punchline. Keep it to one line so the faces stay the focus.
