What is the Meat's Back on the Menu meme?
Meat's Back on the Menu is a close-up of a grey-skinned Uruk-hai from the second Lord of the Rings film, The Two Towers, mouth open mid-snarl, with a mob of orcs blurred behind him in cold blue light. His growled announcement that meat is once again "on the menu, boys" became a long-running fandom joke because it is hard to picture an orc army with anything like a restaurant menu. Today the phrase is used to cheer the return of something you had to go without for a while, delivered with exaggerated villain glee.
Origin: Early in The Two Towers (2002), the Uruk-hai carrying Merry and Pippin stop to rest, and the starving orcs argue about eating the hobbits. When the leader cuts down one of his own troops, he announces that meat is back on the menu. Tolkien fans have joked about the orcs' "menu" ever since.
