What is the Confused John Travolta meme?
Confused John Travolta shows Travolta as Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction, wandering a sparsely furnished living room in a black suit with a coat over his arm, looking side to side as if the thing he expected to find is missing. The clip is used for searching in vain: hunting for documentation, a missing coworker, the plot of a movie, or the point of a meeting. Online it's often cut out and pasted into other scenes, so Vincent seems lost in empty stores, abandoned games, or deserted parties.
Origin: The scene comes from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction (1994), when Vincent arrives at his boss's house to pick up Mia Wallace and looks around for her. The cut-out version became a popular GIF in the mid-2010s.
Also known as: Confused Travolta, Pulp Fiction Confused, Vincent Vega Confused.
How to use the Confused John Travolta meme
The top box sets up who is searching ("me looking for", "fans searching for") and the bottom box names the missing thing. His lost, slightly awkward body language makes any absence feel comical.
It works for missing features, empty fridges, lost parking spots, cancelled shows and anything that should be there but isn't. Keep it to short noun phrases so the reader immediately gets what's missing.
