What is the Scumbag Brain meme?
Scumbag Brain is a plain photo of a pink human brain model on a white background, treated as a character that constantly betrays its owner. Captions follow a two-step pattern: first the brain does something reasonable or expected, then it sabotages you. It remembers every embarrassing thing you said in 2009 but forgets why you walked into the kitchen. It refuses to sleep at night, then gets tired during the day. The joke is how relatable these little mental malfunctions are, blamed on the brain as if it were a separate, untrustworthy roommate.
Origin: Scumbag Brain spun off from the Scumbag Steve meme around 2011, when Reddit users started giving the "scumbag" treatment to things other than people. Some versions of the image show the brain wearing Steve's sideways fitted cap.
Also known as: Scumbag Brain Meme, Brain Betrayal.
How to use the Scumbag Brain meme
The top box is the setup, what the brain does or notices first. The bottom box is the betrayal that ruins it. The classic rhythm is "does good thing / then does bad thing", like "remembers the face" / "but not the name".
Keep both lines short and written in the third person, as if describing the brain's behavior. Sleep, memory, exams, songs stuck in your head and remembering cringe moments are the best sources, because everyone has experienced them.
