What is the X Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday meme?
X Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday uses a dark Marvel Studios teaser poster: swirling green energy streaks, crackling lightning, and at the bottom the line "12.18.26 is Doomsday" beside the Avengers logo. The big empty space in the middle becomes the place to announce who, or what, is coming back. The joke borrows the self-serious hype of Marvel's comeback announcements and applies it to things that have no business in a superhero movie: your motivation, a discontinued snack, an old ex, a bug you thought you fixed. The heavier the cinematic tone, the sillier the returning guest looks.
Origin: Avengers: Doomsday is the Marvel Cinematic Universe film dated for December 18, 2026. Marvel revealed much of its cast in a long livestream in March 2025 and kept teasing returning characters, which led fans to parody the announcements by naming random things that "will return".
Also known as: Avengers Doomsday Cast Announcement, Will Return in Avengers Doomsday, Doomsday Poster Meme, Will Be Back in Avengers Doomsday.
How to use the X Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday meme
There is one text box over the center of the poster. Write the name of whatever is returning, either alone (the poster implies the rest) or as the full phrase "___ will return in Avengers: Doomsday".
It works best with things people miss or dread seeing again: a discontinued menu item, a bug that was supposedly fixed, last season's coach, low-rise jeans, your 3 a.m. thoughts. Using all caps and a name format like a character card makes it look like an official studio announcement.
