What is the Forever Alone meme?
Forever Alone is a rough grey drawing of a lumpy face floating alone on a dark blue starburst background, with watery dark eyes and a wide, shaky grin: the look of someone smiling through tears. It is one of the classic rage comic faces, and it stands for loneliness played for laughs: spending holidays alone, nobody texting back, celebrating Valentine's Day with a pizza. The humor is in the self-pity being so exaggerated that it turns absurd. It was everywhere in the rage comic era and still turns up as a nostalgic way to joke about being single, unpopular or left out.
Origin: Forever Alone grew out of the rage comic boom on 4chan and Reddit around 2009 and 2010, where it became one of the best-known spin-off faces after the original Rage Guy.
Also known as: Forever Alone Guy, Forever Alone Face.
How to use the Forever Alone meme
The top and bottom boxes split a short sad-but-funny statement, like the default "forever / alone". Common patterns are a setup on top and the lonely punchline below: "nobody liked my post / except me". Rage comic style lowercase phrasing fits the drawing.
It works best for small, self-inflicted loneliness: playing two-player games against yourself, getting excited about a notification that turns out to be a battery warning, being the only one who showed up to the study group. Keep it self-deprecating rather than mean.
