What is the Galaxy Brain meme?
Galaxy Brain, also called Expanding Brain, is a four-row chart with captions on the left and glowing brain scans on the right. The first brain is small and dim, the next lights up, the third blazes with white light, and the last radiates beams across the cosmos. Each row pretends to show a smarter idea than the one before, but the escalation usually goes sideways: the "most enlightened" option is the silliest, laziest or most overcomplicated. The joke is the gap between how cosmic the brain looks and how foolish the idea actually is.
Origin: The format grew out of the 2017 "whomst" joke, which paired who, whom, whomst and whomst'd with brighter and brighter brains. The layout was quickly adapted for every kind of escalating idea.
Also known as: Expanding Brain, Big Brain Meme, Whomst Brain, Brain Size Meme.
How to use the Galaxy Brain meme
Fill the four boxes from top to bottom in order of supposed intelligence. Box 1 is the normal, sensible approach. Boxes 2 and 3 get progressively more clever or extreme. Box 4 is the absurd, ironic or overthought final form that the glowing brain pretends is genius.
It works for word escalations, study methods, budgeting, gaming strategy or developer habits. Keep each caption short, and make sure each row clearly builds on the last so the final panel lands as the punchline.
