What is the I Bet He's Thinking About Other Women meme?
This meme is built on a stock photo of a couple lying back to back in bed, both awake: the woman glances over her shoulder with a suspicious, irritated look, while the man stares blankly at the wall, lost in his own head. Captions give each of them an inner monologue. She assumes the worst about what's on his mind, and he turns out to be pondering something completely trivial, like whether a hot dog counts as a sandwich or how to beat a video game boss.
Origin: The format began with a Spanish-language tweet in December 2016 that captioned the photo with her thinking "he's surely thinking about someone else" while he wondered about Star Wars. English versions spread soon after.
Also known as: He's Probably Thinking About Other Girls, Couple in Bed Meme, Seguro Esta Pensando en Otra.
How to use the I Bet He's Thinking About Other Women meme
The first box goes on the woman's side for her suspicious thought, usually the classic line about other women or a variant. The second box goes on the man's side and reveals what he is really obsessing over.
The man's thought is the punchline, so make it oddly specific and harmless: an unanswered trivia question, a match from years ago, a coding bug, an embarrassing thing he said in 2009. The more nerdy or absurd his thought, the bigger the laugh.
