What is the Sure Grandma, Let's Get You to Bed meme?
This template is a stock photo of an elderly woman in a pink cardigan and pearl necklace pushing a walker through a garden while a younger woman in a teal shirt gently guides her by the shoulders. The meme labels the grandma with an outdated opinion, a forgotten trend or an old way of doing things, and the caretaker answers with the patient "sure grandma" brush-off from the title, humoring her the way you would humor someone confused about what year it is.
Origin: The picture is a professional stock photograph of an elderly woman with a walker. With the "sure grandma" caption it became a popular template in 2019.
Also known as: Sure Grandma, Let's Get You To Bed, Grandma Walker Meme.
How to use the Sure Grandma, Let's Get You to Bed meme
Top box: grandma's line, usually a quote of an outdated take in quotation marks ("in my day we wrote assembly"). Bottom box: the caretaker's soothing reply from the title, or a close variant.
It works for anything that used to be true or popular and now sounds old-fashioned: obsolete tech, retired memes, past sports dynasties, old game metas, how things "used to be" at school or work. The quote should be stated with total confidence, because the joke is how gently everyone humors it.
